Christ Appeared

“It is I, the Lord,
the God of Israel, who call you by your name.
…I name you, though you do not know me.
I am the Lord, and there is no other,
besides me there is no God;
I equip you, though you do not know me,
that people may know, from the rising of the sun
and from the west, that there is none besides me;
I am the Lord, and there is no other.
I form light and create darkness,
I make well-being and create calamity,
I am the Lord, who does all these things.

“Shower, O heavens, from above,
and let the clouds rain down righteousness;
let the earth open, that salvation and righteousness may bear fruit;
let the earth cause them both to sprout;
I the Lord have created it.

“Woe to him who strives with him who formed him,
a pot among earthen pots!
Does the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’
or ‘Your work has no handles’?
Woe to him who says to a father, ‘What are you begetting?’
or to a woman, ‘With what are you in labor?’

“Thus says the Lord,
the Holy One of Israel, and the one who formed him:
‘Ask me of things to come;
will you command me concerning my children and the work of my hands?
I made the earth
and created man on it;
it was my hands that stretched out the heavens,
and I commanded all their host.

“…Israel is saved by the Lord
with everlasting salvation…

“For thus says the Lord,who created the heavens
(he is God!),
who formed the earth and made it
(he established it;
he did not create it empty,
he formed it to be inhabited!):
‘I am the Lord, and there is no other.

“…Who told this long ago?
Who declared it of old?
Was it not I, the Lord?
And there is no other god besides me,
a righteous God and a Savior;
there is none besides me.

”….I am God, and there is no other.
By myself I have sworn;
….’To me every knee shall bow,
every tongue shall swear allegiance.’

“Only in the Lord, it shall be said of me,
are righteousness and strength;
to him shall come and be ashamed
all who were incensed against him.
In the Lord all the offspring of Israel
shall be justified and shall glory.”

“…I have made, and I will bear;
I will carry and will save.

“To whom will you liken me and make me equal,
and compare me, that we may be alike?
Those who lavish gold from the purse,
and weigh out silver in the scales,
hire a goldsmith, and he makes it into a god;
then they fall down and worship!
They lift it to their shoulders, they carry it,
they set it in its place, and it stands there;
it cannot move from its place.
If one cries to it, it does not answer
or save him from his trouble.

“Remember this and stand firm,
recall it to mind, you transgressors,
remember the former things of old;
for I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me,
declaring the end from the beginning
and from ancient times things not yet done,
saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
and I will accomplish all my purpose.’
…I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass;
I have purposed, and I will do it.

“…My salvation will not delay;
I will put salvation in Zion,
for Israel my glory.”

(Isaiah 45-46)

Great Men Of God

“There never has been and there never will be such a thing as a great man of God. There are only weak and pitiful men of a great and merciful God.  In looking in the mirror, if I had to define Christianity I would say a desperate person clinging desperately to Christ for the sake of Christ.” ~Paul Washer

What Is Love?

What is love? It is patience and kindness (1 Cor. 13:4, Eph. 4:1-3, Col. 3:12-14). It is bearing and enduring all things (1 Cor. 13:7, Eph. 4:1-3, Col. 3:13-14). It is rejoicing with the truth instead of at wrongdoing (1 Cor. 13:6). It is not envying or boasting or being arrogant or rude or irritable or resentful (1 Cor. 13:4-5, Gal. 5:22-26). It is not insisting on your own way (1 Cor. 13:5). It is not seeking your own good, but the good of your neighbor (1 Cor 10:24, Phil 2:4). It is ministering to the needs of others (Matt. 25:35, 1 John 3:17). It is serving the saints (Heb. 6:10, Gal. 5:13), relieving the strangers (Lev. 25:35, Mat. 25:36), clothing the naked (Isa. 58:7, Matt. 25:36), visiting the widows (Job 31:16-22, James 1:27), remembering the prisoners (Hebrews 13:3), sympathizing with the sufferers (Ro. 12:15, 1 Cor. 12:26) and supporting the weak (Gal. 6:2, 1 Thes. 5:11,14). It is forgiving injuries (Eph. 4:32, Col. 3:13), forebearing (Eph. 4:2) and covering the faults of others (Pro. 10:12, 1 Peter 4:8). It is rebuking (Lev. 19:17, Matt. 18:15, Gal. 6:1) and not wounding a person’s conscience (Romans 14, 1 Cor 8). It is laying down your life for someone (John 15:12-13, Rom. 5:7-8, Eph. 5:2, 1 John 4:11). It is done at all times, in all places, with all people (Matt. 5:43-48, Luke 6:27-36, 1 Cor. 16:14, Gal. 6:10). Love never ends. (1 Cor. 13:8, Prov. 17:17, Heb. 13:1, 1 Peter 1:22, Song of Songs 8:7)
